How to Manage Your Payment Methods for Facebook Ads

You have the option to choose a variety of payment methods when you run Facebook ads. You can always manage your payment methods from your Payment Settings.

How to add a payment method >

1. Go to your Payment Settings.

2. In the Payment Method section, click Add Payment Method.

3. Choose the payment method you want to add, fill in your information and then click Continue. Follow any additional instructions to add your payment method.

Your payment method will be added to your account. If you've followed these steps but are having trouble with your payment method:

Make sure the payment method you're trying to add is an accepted payment option for Facebook ads.
Learn what to do if you're having trouble verifying your credit card address.
Learn what to do if you're able to add a credit card, but your payment still fails.

How to Change your primary payment method >

Your primary payment method is the default payment method on your account. Any ad you create will be charged to this payment method (unless you have an ad coupon, which will be spent first).

Steps to change your primary payment method

Go to your Payment Settings.

In the Payment Method section, find the payment method you want and then click Make Primary.

Note: If you don't see your payment method, click Show Other Payment Methods.

In the confirmation screen, click Make Primary.

Your primary payment method will be updated. Keep in mind that if you've just recently added a new payment method, it'll need to be verified before you can make it your primary payment method.

How to Edit a payment method >

1. Go to your Payment Settings.

2. In the Payment Method section, click Edit next to the payment method you want to update.

Note: If you don't see your payment method, click Show Other Payment Methods.

3. Make your changes and then click Save.

Your payment method will be updated.

How to Remove a payment method >

Before trying to remove a payment method from your ad account, keep the following things in mind:

If you want to remove your current primary payment method but also want to keep advertising on Facebook, add another payment method first.

If you don't want any payment methods connected to your ad account anymore, first turn off your ads, wait about 30 minutes, settle any charges on your account by making a manual payment and then move on to removing your payment method.

Steps to remove a payment method

Go to your Payment Settings.

In the Payment Method section, find the payment method you want to remove and then click Remove on the right.

Note: If you don't see your payment method, click Show Other Payment Methods.

In the confirmation screen, click Remove.

Your payment method will be removed from your ad account. Keep in mind that if you've added a payment method to your Facebook account before (like to purchase games or apps), you'll see it listed as one of your payment methods. You can remove it if you no longer want it available in your account.
